A unique rally to give vision to inclusivity

Pune (Maharashtra) [India]: ‘Eye C Magic’, a unique Car rally was organized by Rotary District 3131, DEI Avenue at Phoenix Market City, Viman Nagar on Sunday. The purpose of the rally was to make visually impaired students feel empowered. The rally covered a total distance of 21 km and all this was witnessed by the residents of Pune and they were amazed. This unique car rally was organized to mark the 120th anniversary of Rotary International on 23rd February.
In a Car Rally, 175 students of the Blind Men’s Association of Pune aged 18 to 25 participated. Each car had a visually impaired navigator guiding the Driver through the route. “Although we are visually impaired, we are capable and we can work in various fields like ordinary people” This message was conveyed by the blind students participating in this rally.
In line with Rotary International’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the program was organized under the initiative of DEI Director Tejashree Patil and DEI Co-Director Dr. Jigneshh Karria. On this occasion, Rotary District 3131 District Governor Rotarian Shital Shah, First Lady Rotarian Ragini Shah, Past District Governor Rotarian Pankaj Shah, Rotarian Priya Shah, Rotarian Dr. Parvez Bilimoria, Shenaz Pannu and Dr. Arava, and as a Chief Guest renowned rally champion Sanjay Takale and R J Sangram Khopade were present.
Rotary Club of Poona was the main host of this event and Rotary Club of Pune Baner, Rotary Club of Pune Bavdhan Elite, Rotary Club of Pune East, Rotary Club of Pune Central, Rotary Club of Nigdi Pune and Rotary Club of Pimpri Elite were the co-hosts. The event concluded at Phoenix Market City Viman Nagar.
