Hyderabad, November 02, 2021: Shekhar Mehta, President, Rotary International inaugurated a Learning Centre to enhance employability and develop entrepreneurship skills for underprivileged youth and women in the city at Gachibowli on Thursday morning.

Rotarian Shekhar Mehta is the Global President of Rotary International, a volunteer service organization with over 1.4 million members across the world.

Shekhar Mehta is the 4th Indian in the 115-year history of Rotary to become the President of Rotary International for the year 2021-22.

Speaking on the occasion, the International President Shekhar Mehta described the facility as the ‘temple of service’ There is no better service than serving the community. The disadvantaged youth and women will see new life after the training programs. And he narrated a few success stories of Sushmita and another boy from Kolkata. I am sure in the next year this centre will also have many such success stories, he said and informed us that the Serve to change life is the theme for the year. He suggested the club also include a Beautician course which is in high demand.

The Sarath Gopal Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills Learning Centre (SG RGJH LC) has come up at Road No 10, Sidique Nagar, Lane opp. SLN Terminus, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. It is a project of Rotary Club Jubilee Hills, a 30-year-old Rotary club and the largest in the twin cities. The land 220 sq yards, valued at little over Rs 1 crore was donated by its member Rotarian Sarath Gopal and the building structure was constructed by another member Rotarian Dandolu Penchala Reddy at the cost of Rs 65 lakhs. It has a 3600 sq ft built-up area, spread over Ground plus three floors. It has three 1000sft on each floor. It also has one classroom with computers for computer-based skill classes. Two classrooms are equipped with overhead projectors. It has a rooftop dining facility and ample parking space, informed Rotarian Suresh Gupta, President of Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills. All the programs are provided free of cost as of now.

He also explained that the objective of the Centre is to impart skill development courses in areas that are for tomorrow’s markets. Also to develop communication and personal excellence skills to meet expectations of corporate; to instil a mindset of good work culture and human values, and to adopt ethics based on Rotary ideals to become dignified and worthy citizens.

The Centre will be run on philanthropic lines, he added.

Entrepreneurship Development, Spoken English, Accountancy Package, Financial Literacy, Hospitality-related skills, Paramedical skills, computer literacy, etc. will be imparted.

Rotarian Sheela Ramakrishnan Chairperson, SG RGJH LC said, we follow the three-pronged rationale of Communication, Information and Transformation. We have completed phase 1 of our programs under the Hybrid model. We covered 1500 beneficiaries between 3 flagship programs in each of these domains, she informed.

Rotary District Governor Rotarian K. Prabhakar, Rotary Jubilee Hills Club members and others graced the inaugural function.
